the app

anyways is a personal journal for projects, hobbies and tasks on iphone and android.

your account

sign in with google, or apple on ios, during setup. sign-in creates your account or opens your existing one; it doesn’t buy a subscription. personal projects sync across devices using that account. after setup, you can write offline and sync when you reconnect. sharing with a group is separate and always your choice.

free and paid plans

• the free plan includes 3 personal projects in total, including planned, finished and archived projects. joining someone else’s shared project doesn’t use one, but hosting one needs a paid plan.
• paid plans renew monthly or yearly: plus covers 2 members for usd 2.99 a month or usd 29.90 a year; circle covers 5 for usd 4.99 or usd 49.90; group covers 10 for usd 9.99 or usd 99.90. member counts include the subscriber. all members get unlimited personal projects and can create unlimited shared projects within that private group. a year costs the same as 10 months. there are no additional-seat purchases on these plans. the app store or google play shows your local price before you confirm.
• payment is charged to your apple account or google account when you confirm, and the plan renews at the end of each month or year until you cancel. on iphone, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends, in your apple account settings. on android, cancel any time in google play subscriptions; the plan stays active until the period ends.
• refunds are handled by apple or google under their policies.
• if your subscription ends, nothing is deleted. your projects and their history stay accessible. you can add a new personal project when you have fewer than 3, or choose a paid plan to add more.

shared projects

• sharing is optional. only members of your private group can join its shared projects. plus, circle and group cover a fixed group of 2, 5 or 10 members, including the subscriber. display names aren’t verified, so only invite people you know.
• each invite link works once, for whoever uses it first, so don’t post it publicly.
• the host can stop sharing and anyone else can leave at any time.
• while a project is shared, everyone in it sees its description, your latest checkpoint, and a timeline of every checkpoint you save on it from then on, with its note, next step, and photo. your entries stay until you leave or the host stops sharing.
• memberships belong to your signed-in account. you can join several groups, using one seat in each. settings → private groups lists groups you host and have joined, including on your other signed-in devices. the subscriber manages membership and hosting roles. only people who join a project can see it.
• if a plan lapses or someone loses their hosting role, existing members can still read what’s shared, but new changes and joins pause until hosting is active again. a smaller plan can remove members beyond its limit.
• when you leave or are removed from a group, or a project stops being shared with you, your own contributions become a personal project. a private account recovery copy keeps your shared entries and media until they are safely saved. other people’s entries and shared metadata aren’t copied. failed recovery keeps the data for retry.
• only share photos and gifs you have the right to share.
• don’t use names, descriptions, notes, next steps, photos, card backgrounds, or goal titles to harass anyone. shared projects used that way may be ended.

your data

your journal lives on your phone, so keep a backup you trust; settings has export backup. the privacy policy explains what’s stored and where.

no guarantees

anyways is provided as is. we work to keep it reliable, but we can’t promise it will be free of bugs or always available. to the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for lost data or indirect damages.

app stores

if you get anyways from the app store, apple’s licensed application end user license agreement applies as well. if you get it from google play, the google play terms of service apply to your purchase.

changes

if these terms change, this page and the date at the top will change with them.
